About

I'm an AI and machine-learning engineer in Nairobi. I studied Business and Information Technology at JKUAT, and my first data work was risk profiling of tax cases for audit, as an intern at the Kenya Revenue Authority. It taught me what a model is for: a decision that someone has to defend.
Since then I've built models and the systems around them: fraud scoring, anti-money-laundering monitoring for Kenyan payments, and legal research that cites its sources or says nothing. Most of it is for Kenyan finance and law, where a wrong answer costs money or a case, and where the data doesn't look like the benchmarks.
I care most about what happens after the demo works. Is the test set honest? Does the system say when it doesn't know? Can one firm read another firm's data? My case studies show those checks, including the targets I missed.
Today I build AI backend services as an intern at FlyRank AI, and I work as an ICT officer in the public sector. I'm open to remote AI and ML engineering roles.
Focus areas
Fintech
Fraud scoring and anti-money-laundering monitoring, built for mobile-money patterns and Kenyan reporting rules.
Legaltech
Legal research that retrieves Kenyan Acts and judgments, checks its citations and refuses weak answers.
Agritech
Mapping cropland from satellite imagery.
How I work
Evaluate on data the model hasn't seen
Time-ordered splits, held-out questions, and intervals instead of single numbers.
Enforce isolation in the database, not the UI
Row-level security, tested by attacking it from another tenant.
Say what isn't done
Every case study ends with its limits, including the targets it missed.
Ship with tests and security checks
CI runs the evaluation, the secret scan and the accessibility checks on every change.
